Indonesian Finally Got Plans Build Fast Internet


At the end of his term, the government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) completed attestation Broadband Plan Indonesia (RPI) or Indonesia Broadband Plan 2014-2019 through Presidential Decree (Decree) No. 96 Year 2014.

Deputy Minister of National Development Planning (VAT) / National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Lukita Dinarsyah Tuwo say, a regulation recently become a cornerstone of the development of information technology and telecommunications in Indonesia in the next five years.

"To realize this RPI, funding needs are estimated at Rp 278 trillion for five years," said Lukita, Wednesday (10/15/2014).

He said, of that total, the contribution of the state budget (Budget) estimated that only 10 percent. The rest is expected from the business world, from the private sector.

The Government has set five flagship program to develop this RPI, namely education, health, government management, procurement, and logistics systems.

Assistant Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Utilities Telematics, Eddy Satriya, adding, regulation of the RPI is part of the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI), and can directly be developed through existing infrastructure.

This plan can also be integrated with the National Logistics System (Sislognas) and National Transportation Systems (Sistranas) to improve competitiveness.

Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Telecommunications Educate Suwondo RPI happy with the issuance of this regulation. According Educate, this document is a legal basis for businesses to build information technology systems in the future.

"We asked the new government to be able to make the details of this regulation so that it can be implemented," said Didik. Currently, fiber optic system as the national broadband network is not connected to the rest of Indonesia. As a result, good internet access can only be felt from Sumatra to Sulawesi in part, while Maluku and Papua can only be connected to broadband by 2016.
